Maia Andreasen Class Teacher

Welcome to Maia Andreasen's College Life Report

I am so proud of all my students. They have worked so hard for their course, especially the ones who have graduated with Honours. They have studied hard during their final two years to achieve their results. I have enjoyed watching their progress as they have gradually mastered the course work and become enthusiastic scientists with a passionate hunger for more knowledge in this cutting edge field of cell biology which they have commited their careers to advancing. I wish them all great success in their future careers and I am confident that if they bring the same attributes of dedication, curiosity and old-fashoned hard work to their future endeavours, they will find the satisfaction and success among their peers that their performance to date predicts.

Cell Biology is one of the most exciting developing fields in the biological sciences at this time as rapid advances are being made in understanding the hugely complex interaction of the cell metabolic processes which are the foundation of human life and health. In such a short time in the twentieth century and now the twentyfirst century the technology available to research, investigate and analyse the chemical and biological process that sustain cell vitality are being explored and revealed at an accelerating rate.

At the same time that knowledge is increasing, the appreciation of what we don't know, and the complexity and variability of the systems we are studying is becoming more apparent with each new revelation.
Well done everyone and best wishes for the future in this exciting field!

Several members of our regular research seminar have developed a keen interest in the field of genealogy. This followed a theme that emerged following a number of highly interesting presentations on current developments in cell biology in relation to DNA research. This in turn inspired them to further focus on research findings in this field and in particular on ancestral DNA.
We will be posting some of the discoveries that unfold. Everyone is quite enthusiastic to showcase these interesting and more personal pathways that our dry science can lead us into!!
